Shahnaz Khan is Assistant Professor of Women's Studies and Global Studies at Wilfred Laurier University. She has published articles on Muslim women and immigration in such journals as Signs, Legal Studies Forum, and Journal of Ethnic Studies.

A rare study

This is one of the very few qualitative studies of Muslim women in the diaspora - and it's by a muslim woman too. We've had so many Geraldine Brookses that a Shahnaz Khan is a huge relief. The writer examines several Canadian muslim immigrant women's identities (interviews) using the notion of "third space" because Muslim women do not fit into existing categories in North America. I recommend this book.
